The Directorate of Animal Health (DAH) reported that 27 districts, including the capital Kathmandu, are facing high risk of bird flu.

DAH program director Ram Krishna Khatiwada said during a press meeting on Sunday that they had intensified surveillance in those high risk districts. He added that another 18 districts are facing moderate risk while 26 districts are at low risk.

Nepal has a total of 75 districts. The directorate said 23 outbreaks were confirmed nationwide to date, during which the DAH has culled 67,507 fowls, discarded 23,088 eggs, destroyed 148.5 kg of chicken meat and 3,413 kg of chicken feed.
