Isaac’s remnant emerges as new low pressure system in Gulf of Mexico
A tropical disturbance associated in part with the remnants of Isaac, is lingering in the Gulf of Mexico along the Florida Panhandle. Very humid air, combined with the disturbance could unleash downpours and caused flash flooding from part of the Louisiana coast to the Florida Panhandle. Moisture regenerated from new system could be drawn up along the Atlantic Seaboard or dragged across the Florida Peninsula over the weekend, enhancing downpours once again.
A low pressure system located near the Alabama coast continues to produce showers and thunderstorms mainly to the south and southwest of the center of the circulation. Upper level winds are expected to be marginally conducive for development of this disturbance over next couple of days. The system moves slowly south – southwestward. The system is moving into an environment favorable for strengthening. NHC gives medium 50% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
Cooler, less humid air over Canada could reach the central Gulf Coast area by early next week.
