Dust blows off the coast of Mauritania, south of the Bay of Arguin, and southwest over the Atlantic Ocean towards the Cape Verde Islands. Also visible protruding from the coast of West Africa, south of the airborne dust, is the Cape Verde Peninsula, on which the Senegalese capital of Dakar is located.
