Rare tornado leaves trail of destruction in northern Italy
A rare tornado swept through industrial area in Cavenago, northern Italy, around 27 km from Milan. The tornado raged alongside the A4 motorway on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. It generated winds of up to 100 km/h and caused extensive damage.
A man driving a truck on the motorway was injured by flying debris and a another one was hit by a gate he was trying to close when the tornado struck.
Several tornadoes have struck the Emilia-Romagna region, northern Italy, on May 3, 2013. A strong and violent tornado hit Bentivoglio and Argelato villages, between Bologna and Modena in the afternoon local time, injuring 11 people and damaging several houses. Some houses were completely destroyed.
