Tropical Storm Sinlaku made landfall at east Vietnam
Tropical Storm Sinlaku made landfall just north of Quang Ngai at east-central Vietnam late on November 29, 2014 with heavy rainfall and maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h. Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces on the south central coast were hardest hit.
Sinlaku is the fourth storm formed in the South China Sea this year. This system already affected parts of the Philippines, leaving 4 dead and 8 still missing.

The system is starting to dissipate due the land interaction as it moves over central Vietnam. Sinlaku will continue to weaken, but still, it will bring heavy rainfall across Vietnam’s southern and eastern coastlines as well as Cambodia for the next several days. Some areas could see well over 100-200 mm of total rainfall resulting in the risk of flooding and landslides.
