More severe weather expected across Oklahoma and the Great Plains

More severe weather hit Oklahoma and the Great Plains this Saturday, May 9, 2015. Northern Colorado was evacuated due to heavy flooding, Rocky Mountains were covered in snow and tornadoes and large hail are still expected in parts of western Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas. A tropical storm is threatening the East Coast and the storms are stretching from Carolinas to California.

Black Hills of South Dakota are expecting more than 63 cm (25 inches) of snow with more than 60 cm (2 feet) in store for the Rocky Mountains.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said the Tropical Storm "Ana" had sustained winds of 95 km/h (60 mph), and is expected to move near the coasts of South and North Carolina Sunday morning (local time).

Senior Hurricane Specialist Stacy Stewart warns that dangerous surf and rip tides could appear as a consequence of this year's first tropical storm, as well as isolated flooding in the coastal areas.

Southern New Mexico and western Texas face the danger of fire, as the storm is bringing 40.23 km/h (25 mph) winds along with low humidity and temperatures up to 22.2ºC (72 F).

More storms bringing rain, hail and tornadoes are expected in eastern Nebraska, southern Kansas, western Oklahoma and parts of North Texas.
