Strong and shallow M6.7 earthquake hit Pacific – Antarctic Ridge

A very strong and shallow earthquake M6.7 (USGS) hit Pacific – Antarctic Ridge at 15:25 UTC on May 19, 2013. USGS is reporting depth of 10.2 km (6.3 miles). EMSC is reporting the same magnitude at a depth of 33 km (20 miles).

Epicenter was located 2 151 km (1 337 miles) N of Siple, Mount, Antarctica, 3 891 km (2418 miles) WSW of Puerto Natales, Chile and 3 250 km (2 019 miles) S of Adamstown, Pitcairn.

There are no people living within 100 km radius.

USGS issued green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses. There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage.
