On August 20, 2015, Tropical Storm "Danny" strengthened into the first hurricane of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season. It's current forecast track takes it near or over Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis on August 24, toward Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on August 25.

At 15:00 UTC today, Hurricane "Danny" was located about 1 755 km (1 090 miles) east of the Windward Islands, West Indies, and was moving WNW at 19 km/h (12 mph). This general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days, NWS NHC said.

At the same time, Danny's maximum sustained winds were 120 km/h (75 mph). Minimum central pressure was 992 hPa (mb). Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

NHC added there are currently no coastal watches of warnings in effect.

Hurricane "Danny" is a small tropical cyclone today. Hurricane-force winds only extend outward up to 16 km (10 miles) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 100 km (62 miles).

Danny's 18.5 km (11.5 miles) diameter eye has become embedded in the center of a small central dense overcast today.

According to NHC, Danny's compact size makes it subject to significant fluctuations in strength, both up and down, and such fluctuations are notoriously difficult to predict.
