An intense snow storm hit Chicago on November 20, 2015. Heavy storm brought large amount of snowfall across parts of Chicago, causing traffic delays across the city. 

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) this snow event was for the record book. 

The first measurable snow event of a winter 2015/16 season recorded 10.7 cm (4.2 inches) of snowfall on November 20, being the fourth largest calendar day total on record. Snowfall accumulation measured in a two day period between November 20 and 21 was 28.4 cm (11.2 inches), thus towering over previous multiday totals for a season's first measurable snow event.

O'Hare airport received 17.8 cm (7 inches) of snowfall on November 21, breaking an old record of 7.6 cm (3 inches) set in 1893. 350 flights have been canceled on the O'Hare International Airport, while about 175 were canceled on Midway International Airport.

Areas around Chicago also received large amounts of snow. About 42 cm (16.5 inches) of accumulated snowfall was recorded in Hawthorn Woods, 41 cm (16 inches) in Wadsworth and 39 cm (15.5 inches) in Mundelein.

Icy road conditions could pose danger to drivers, as low temperatures persist across the city, meteorologists warned. Over 260 snowplows and salt spreaders have been sent to clear out the roads, according to the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation.

The winter storm warnings are currently in place in Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties, Indiana, as the storm tracks toward them.
