Fatal flooding and landslides hit Indonesia
Heavy rainfalls, continuously lashing parts of Indonesia since February 5, 2016 has now triggered flooding and landslides across the affected areas. 9 people have been reported dead so far, and 4 missing while 4 000 people have been evacuated from their homes.
Torrential downpours caused a landslide in the Penungkulan village in Gebang, Purworejo Regency in Central Java Province on February 5, 2016.
Three houses were buried by the landslide, 5 victims were reported dead, and two people are still missing. 250 search and rescue workers are actively searching for the missing, Indonesia's National Disaster Management Authority (BNPD) stated.

Rowobayen, Kutoarjo and Pucangagung villages in Purworejo Regency also reported flooding. 75 people were evacuated as flooding waters rose up to 1 m (3.3 feet) across the affected areas.
Fatal flooding and landslides have also been reported in the West Sumatra province. 4 people died in landslide related incidents in Solok district and two others went missing.
Extreme weather conditions have inflicted damage upon a few roads and a bridge in Rokan Hulu Regency. Flooding was also reported in Bungo Regency in Jambi Province.
