According to expert's interpretation of the event, the landslide occurred after recent rainfall in the region, on a mountain roadside. The landslide mass landed in a part of the river bed, after a dramatic development, where an intact sliding rock transitioned into a fragmented highly mobile mass in only a few seconds.

The water displacement in the river looks quite "impressive", and the landslide appears to be composed of fine-grained slits or sands, or loess, according to the visual interpretation of the video.
