Severe flooding in northern Morocco
Severe flooding was reported in parts of northern Morocco on February 22, 2016 after heavy rainfalls lashed the region over the last two days. One person is suspected dead, according to the current reports.
The regions of Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoecima, including the provinces of Tetouan and Chefchaouen, was hit particularly hard by the rainstorms in the period between February 20 and 21.

99 mm (3.9 inches) of precipitation was recorded in a 24 hour period between February 20 and 21 in the city of Larache while 29 mm (1.1 inches) was reported in Tangier at the same time. 22.1 mm (0.9 inches) was observed in the city of Tetouan on February 20 and 25.9 mm (1 inch) on the following day.
Traffic disruptions and closed roads were reported across the affected areas, and some damage to buildings was reported in Tetouan and Chefchaouen.
