Pakistan was hit by floods and numerous landslides after heavy rains drenched the country in March. The video below shows one highly destructive landslide event crashing through a series of houses.

"The debris flowing down the lower slope triggered another failure, probably in the deep soil and weathered rock that forms this area. It is this secondary failure that destroys the houses, leaving the deep landslide scar behind," said Dave Petley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of East Anglia, UK, on his website.

"Technically, this is a combination of an induced failure and a rapid entrainment event. It illustrates beautifully the complexity of landslides, and why it is so hard to forecast their behaviour," Petley added.
