Bright, slow moving meteor over Puerto Rico
A bright, slow moving meteor was observed over Puerto Rico about 01:06 UTC on June 3, 2016 (21:06 local time on June 2), the Caribbean Astronomical Society (SAC) reports.
SAC said the meteor was moving from the northeast to the southeast and was visible from the entire island. "Reports we received came from Juncos, Vega Alta, and Mayagüe, among others," said Eddie Irizarry, SAC vice president.
"It was like a glowing sphere, like a big shooting star with a long, light blue tail," SAC's Ednaly Ortiz Camacho described.
Some areas of the island were clouded, but the meteor was bright enough to be seen even behind them:
