Landslide crashes into wooden houses in central China
A ferocious landslide swept through a village in central China's Hunan Province on July 17, 2016. The slide destroyed all 14 houses located at the bottom of the mountain, causing traffic to be shut down.
Video released by Chinese state media (CCTV) showed the murky water falling down the mountain side and a moment when the landslide came down crashing into wooden houses.
Luckily, no casualties were reported as more than 650 residents were evacuated before the incident. Some 244 000 people were affected.
CCTV said the landslide was caused by heavy and continuous rain and bad weather in the region.
It came after up to 200 mm (7.9 inches) of rain fell in the region, South China Morning post said.
As of Monday, July 18, heavy rain is still present in the region slowing down recovery efforts. Roads are still blocked.
