Good news for residents of coastal areas near Pakistan/India border. Once a Category 4 Cyclone "Nilofar" has rapidly weakened in northern Arabian Sea as approaching north Gujarat coast becoming tropical depression before making landfall. By 09:00 UTC on October 30, maximum sustained winds had dropped below hurricane-strength to 93 km/h (58 mph) due the strong vertical wind shear and colder sea surface temperatures.

On October 31, 2014 India Meteorological Department's Regionalized Specialized Meteorological Centre (RSMC) reported maximum sustained winds of 46 km/h (29 mph). RMSC reported Nilofar weakened into depression over northeast Arabian Sea off the north Gujarat coast.

RMSC forecasts continuing northwestward track and further weakening into well marked low pressure area over northeast Arabian Sea off north Gujarat coast during the next 12 hours. All coastal districts remained on a high alert as a weakened Cyclone Nilofar can still cause damage.

Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) reported maximum sustained winds of 55.5 km/h (34.5 mph) at 06:00 UTC on October 31, 2014. JTWC forecasts the complete dissipation of the system after the next 12 hours.
