CH HSS causing isolated periods of G1 – Minor geomagnetic storming

Earth is under the influence of negative polarity coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS) since late April 12, 2016. This is causing isolated periods of G1 – Minor geomagnetic storming.

Geomagnetic K-index of 5 (G1 – Minor geomagnetic storm) threshold was first reached at 22:15 UTC on April 12. An additional enhancement was observed near 07:00 UTC on April 14 due to possible impact from the April 10th CME.

A return to near background solar wind environment is expected on April 15 and 16 as CH HSS effects subside. However, several solar storms produced by Region 2529 (Beta) appear to be on our way and my further destabilize the field.

There are currently 3 numbered sunspot regions on the Earth side of the Sun. Region 2529 has beta magnetic field and is still producing C- and B-class flares despite its continued trend of slight decay.
